Thrash rock band takes over CGs

Don't know how this one got by us... Just got word that Valient Thorr is playing Common Grounds tonight. The sludgy punk metal band from North Carolina is stopping by to inflict some of its gritty rock thrashing on our quiet little town as it spreads its constant "peace with a catalyst of hard and fast Rock n Roll" across the world.

The Thorrs, together since 2001, claim to hail from the planet Venus and on Earth are signed onto Volcom Entertainment, also home to Goons of Doom, Gutter Mouth and Year Long Disaster. We would suggest you pull out your old denim vest, bandannas, proceed to splatter some motor oil in your hair and go ready to really rock out at CGs tonight. From what we hear these guys don't take "no thrashing" for an answer, and will expect you to be on full-on Thorrior behavior. Word is they left a wake of destruction last time they were in Europe—if the Scotts can't keep up, we don't know who can.

Doors open at 9 p.m. with Early Man opening the show. Cover is $10.
