Be an Art Insider

One of the University of Florida’s best-kept secrets, Art Bash showcases some of the most exciting faculty and student art from the School of Art and Art History tomorrow (Nov. 13.) The event, although not heavily promoted, typically draws a crowd of more than 600 people, says Andy Howard, spokesman for the UF College of Fine Arts.

“I do know it’s something people look forward to every year,” he says. He explains that each department plans different events, and is very secretive because it has become somewhat of an “unofficial competition.” In past years, departments have done parades, interactive activities and even do-it-yourself art projects, he says.

Andy describes Art Bash as more of an art-making show, versus an art showing. The event focuses more on the process of the artists in fields such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, drawing and more, also in addition to displaying art. “It’s a glimpse of inside life of what [the artists] do every day,” he says.

Art Bash is from 6pm to 9pm throughout the School of Art and Art History Fine Arts Complex on campus. Visit artbash.blogspot.com.
