Help Break a World Record

Want to break a world record while getting a back massage? Head to University House - 13th Street tomorrow (Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11), where the complex will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for longest back massage train. “We wanted to take advantage of Veterans’ Day, since there’s no school,” says assistant community manager Chelsea Seidman.

She says the idea came about because the complex throws at least one major event every year (in addition to regular monthly events), and this year they wanted to do something on-site. They considered a field day at first, then the idea transformed into breaking a world record. “We wanted to try to find something that was easy for everyone to participate in,” she says.

UH plans to promote the event through UF student organizations, offering the organization with the most participants a $500 donation. Chelsea says that the first 500 people to show up will receive an event T-shirt, and there will be a $100 drawing. Participants must massage for three minutes straight, and should be at UH by 12:30pm sharp. Join the after-party with KISS 105.3 at 2:30pm.

According to Chelsea, the current record is 430, but she says UH is aiming for 600. “We go big,” she says with a laugh. Go to universityhouse.com or follow UH13thStreet on Twitter for updates.
