Career Fashion Makeover

Career Fashion Makeover
Who would you hire? We talked to experts at UF's Career Resource Center (and even put an intrepid reporter through a mock interview) for our May Career Guide, pg. 17. Then, we subjected four readers to interview-outfit makeovers to save you the embarrassment of making common mistakes. Can you tell which is the "before" and "after?"
TIPS:
- Even if you're interviewing for a creative position, a little bit of
"trendy" goes a long way.
- Sleek back your hair to appear more polished!
- Did you know that gold for guys is a "power color?"
- It helps to tuck in your shirt.)

For tips like this, and to see who gets the job, check out our May Career
Guide, page 17.

The first 100 inline received gift cards ranging from $10 to $100.Jean, 19 ("almost 20") said "basically, my main love has been Sephora since it opened in Brandon three years ago!" She received at $25 gift card, which she used to buy what she came for‹Urban Decay Pocket Rocket lip gloss "with the scene guy on it." She hopes that the opening of this new store means that Gainesville will "take better care of its appearance." We loved what she did with her eyes‹also by Urban Decay.
University of Florida student Gina was the first person in line. She got there at 7am to find makeup for her wedding in August. Pro Beauty Team Expert Amber Kish (based out of Jacksonville) traveled to the grand opening to offer makeup tips and ways to copy her mermaid-inspired look. She recommended Sephora's Lash Plumper Waterproof mascara for Florida summers. "I love this location," Amber told us. "Even though it's in a mall, you get a lot of natural light [coming through the skylights], which is perfect for trying on makeup."

Cirque du Soleil

The Stephen C. O'Connell center was abuzz with media this afternoon (5/7) as performers from Cirque Du Soleil's Saltimbanco prepared for opening night.
INsite went behind-the-scenes as performers did their makeup and rehearsed.Cirque du Soleil artist coach for the Russian Swing and house troupe member Zbigniew Zibi Bachor, of Poland, trains with performers before each Saltimbanco! show in full makeup. Zibi always does his makeup early, just to get it out of the way, says head coach of acrobatics Michael Ocampo, adding that makeup application can take up to two hours for some performers. During the Cirque du Soleil show, the acrobats on the Russian Swing make flying through the air look easy, but without the theatric lights and accompanying tunes, you can really see how difficult these feats are. Katsiaryna Kuziankova (pictured) yells hup to signal she will jump on the next swing forward. You can hear them yell it during the show, too, if you listen close enough, says head coach of acrobatics Michael Ocampo. The show runs May 7-11. See the full story in the April issue, page 65
