Hip-Hop Buffet

Hip-Hop Buffet

Last Friday (6/26), we were invited to attend the Hip-Hop Buffet at Common Grounds, hosted by UDTV and Brandon B.

Six performers competed to appear on UDTV on Fox in September, but one of the most exciting parts was the freestyle rap contest, which reminded us of 8-Mile. The crowd cheered for their favorite contestant(s) until the final best competed in a final round around 1am!

Self Made Records was the crowd favorite, and will appear in September on Fox. He also will receive one song professionally mastered at GK Mastering and two Hours of recording at SKYLAB Studios, among other prizes.

We really liked 10Sack, from Lake City, at last Friday's Hip Hop Buffet. Here (yellow), his younger sister watches at Common Grounds. Here's his MySpace: www.myspace.com/10sackofficial

Behind the Scenes: Beauty

Behind the Scenes: Beauty
This month in INsite (June), we talked to an expert from the brand-new Sephora store. We loved her idea of using bronzer on the center of pink and gold glossed lips to make them stand out.
These colors are just a few options from Sephora's Color Play Palette, a limited edition palette that rings up for a grand total of 22 bucks! This 6.5" x 7" palette from Sephora has‹count 'em‹36 eyeshadows, 12 lip glosses, a bronzer and 3 blushes.
For summer, try mixing ocean blues and sea greens with sandy golds for what Sephora expert Tristen Wilbur calls "the mermaid look."
See more ideas in the June issue, page 21.

Great American Trailer Part Musical

Great American Trailer Park Musical

The Great American Trailer Park Musical, the Hippdrome's hilarious new show playing from now until June 28, is full of raunchy humor and north central Florida trailer-park charm. Here, Norman brings flowers to his new love interest, Pippi, who is getting ready for a night of collecting dollar bills, something Norman can relate to.
The entire cast of The Great American Trailer Park Musical (from top left, clockwise): Jeannie, the agorophobic housewife; Norman, her tollbooth-collection-worker huband; Pippi, a runaway stripper; Duke, Pippi's crazy ex-boyfriend; Linoleum, who is horny because her husband is on death row; Betty, the manager of Armadillo Acres, the most exclusive trailer park in Starke; and Pickles, who suffers from hysterical pregnancies and gaining
weight after eating a lot.
